Privacy

We collect only what we need to bake your order, answer your message and understand how people find us. We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers.

When you visit

We set one cookie of our own, vb_vid. It holds a random ID with nothing personal in it and lasts up to 400 days. With it we record the pages you view, how you arrived (the website, link, ad or QR code that brought you, but only the site's name, never the full address), your device type, your approximate area (city and state, worked out from your network connection), and clicks such as Order Ahead or Directions. We do not store your IP address. We do not use advertising cookies or outside analytics services.

We use this to learn which listings, codes and campaigns bring people in, and which cafés they visit, so we spend our time and money on what works.

Who we do not track

  • Visitors in California, the European Union and European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. For them the site sets no cookie and records no visits.
  • Anyone whose browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. We honor it the same way.
  • You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. The site works without them.

When you order, start a cart or send a form

  • Orders: your name, email, phone, delivery address if you choose delivery, what you ordered and any notes, so we can bake it, reach you about it and keep records the law requires.
  • Payment: handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Started carts: when you add something to a cart we ask for your name and email, and keep them so we can follow up if your order did not go through.
  • Contact, catering and wholesale forms: what you send us, so we can reply.
  • Newsletter: your email, to send the updates you asked for. Every email lets you unsubscribe.

If you visit before you order, we connect the order to the visit so we can see what brought you to us. The same rules about who we do not track apply.

Who helps us run the site

These companies process information for us, only to provide their service:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, stores our records and runs the spam check on our forms.
  • Stripe processes card payments.
  • Resend sends order confirmations and messages to our team.
  • Mapbox or OpenStreetMap draws the maps on café pages, and the map code loads from unpkg, so your browser contacts them when a map is shown.
  • CloudPano shows the 360° tour on café pages that have one.
  • Our Order Ahead and careers partners run their own sites when you click through to them, under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it

  • Visit records: up to 25 months, then deleted automatically.
  • Orders: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
  • Messages, started carts and newsletter sign-ups: while they are useful for following up, or until you ask us to delete them.

This site is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
